What is Love?

Hello. My name is Gordon Sauer, and I'm the President of GAAMC. This month we'll be presenting a series of programs on the theme of love. -- our Valentine's Day social, a showing of the movie "The Shape of Water"  and at the end of February, a discussion about what is love and how do we show it.

So just what is love? Google defines it as " having  an intense feeling of deep affection or pleasure for someone or something".
Well I can say, I love pizza, I love my dog, I love my home and I love my husband. So is love the same for all four of these entities? I don't think so.
And how do I show my love? Well with pizza, I gobble it up as quickly as possible. With my dog, I take her for walks when it's 5 degrees out. I spend loads of time working on my house, just to make it the type of place I feel comfortable in. And finally, how do I show my love for my husband? Well to answer that completely would take many many paragraphs.
So what about you? What is love for you and how do you show it? I'd love to find out!

Much better to be open and honest; it is called having “dignity & respect” for another. When we try to hide, we get tripped up all the time.

I agree totally with Andy’s thought. A relationship requires openness & honesty on both sides.

Showing love requires honesty. And, I have painfully learned that it is impossible to sustain a loving relationship with someone who is afraid to be honest with themselves.
